The story of the United States about its supposed fight against drug trafficking has been marked by double standards and falsehood, said the Vice President of the Republic, Delcy Rodríguez.

In this regard, during a press conference with national and international media, he denounced how the United States, using the fight against drug trafficking as an excuse, used “Plan Colombia 1 and 2" as an instrument to turn the neighboring country into the world's leading producer of drugs.

“Since its genesis, this history of combating drug trafficking has been permeated by double standards and falsehood. This allowed them (the US) to set up military bases in Colombian territory, neighboring Venezuela, but they did not burn a single bush of coca leaf and, on the contrary, the number of hectares of coca leaf cultivation spread. All thanks to the role of the United States in Plan Colombia 1 and 2,” he said.

In addition, based on reports from the DEA, Rodríguez reported that the main drug cartels and money laundering schemes operate from the United States.

On the other hand, he rejected any attempt to link our country to drug trafficking. “Venezuela is not a relevant country in terms of drug trafficking, because we are a country free of drug cultivation, it is not a country for the collection or transit of drugs,” he emphasized while stressing that this crime is fiercely combated by our authorities.
