Devotional cycle began in Yaracuy in honor of San Juan Bautista

With a colorful parade full of faith, tradition and cultural manifestations, the regional meeting of Sanjuaneros Yaracuyanos began, an activity that brought together more than 1,800 cultivators belonging to the 24 brotherhoods established in the 14 municipalities of the state.

The day began in Sucre Square in the Independencia municipality and went through the main streets until reaching José Joaquín Veroes Square, in San Felipe, where the participants celebrated one of the entity's most deeply rooted cultural and religious expressions, according to a note from the Ministry for Culture.

The meeting was attended by Josué Rivas, the sole authority for culture in the state of Yaracuy, who highlighted the wide participation of the Sanjuana brotherhoods. Also in attendance were Lenyit Martínez, Secretary General of the Government of Yaracuy; the mayor of the José Joaquín Veroes municipality, Leonaldo Machado; authorities from the tourism sector and representatives of the various devotional groups.

The activity is part of the cycle of celebrations in honor of San Juan Bautista, a tradition that brings together communities from all over the region around music, drums and the manifestation of popular faith.

According to the organizers, the program will continue over the next week with various cultural and religious activities. The schedule will culminate on June 25 with the regional meeting of Sanjuaneros to be held at the “Eloy Sevilla” Museum, located in the town of Taría, José Joaquín Veroes municipality.
