Venezuelans Dilany Melo and Yoneiber Moreno won two places in the Oregon Under-20 World Championship in the 400-meter finals of the first stop of the II National Athletics League, at the Brígida Iriarte stadium.

On the day, Brendan Pérez equaled the national record in the under-20 triple jump, after tying the national record held by Carabobeño Sergio Saavedra since June 13, 1987, in his second attempt at 15.96, the Ministry of Popular Power for Sports reported.

The parade was attended by Franklin Cardillo, Minister of Popular Power for Sports; Henyelberth Herrera, Deputy Minister of High Performance and Luis Salas, president of the National Athletics League.

“We are very happy in this second edition of the National Athletics League, which gives continuity to the preparation of the different categories and, fundamentally, to the athletes who are going to represent us in international events,” said Cardillo.

Dilany Melo, 15, lowered her personal brand to 54.91, a record that included it in the universal payroll for which they required at least 55.20.

With this performance, Melo will have his second international participation. The next challenge for La Mirandina will be the upcoming South American Youth Games Panama 202, scheduled from April 12 to 25.

For his part, Yoneiber Moreno (18) gave a high-level performance in the demanding distance, winning the highest honors by registering 47.27, a time below the 47.40 established to attend the universal U20 match, which will be held from August 5 to 9 at the Hayward Field of the University of Oregon.

Meanwhile, Richard Peña, who ranked second in the race, was only - 0.01 hundredths away from winning a ticket to the universal joust, with his time of 47.41.

The senior men's 4×400 relay that finished eighth in the recent indoor World Cup with a national record of 3:07.05 also excelled in Brígida Iriarte.

The quartet achieved a 3:03.81 in the opening of the outdoor season and was only 31 thousandths behind the world share that closes Nigeria in 24th place with 3:02.98.

Among other results left by the first stop in the league, Orangys Jiménez (11.48) and Eubrig Maza (10.40) in 100 meters (11.48) and Ana Torin in 400 (54.43) were proclaimed champions.

In the long-haul distances, Aurimar Baptista (4:55.13) and Sebastián López (3:48.70) did the same in 1,500; Susana Blanco (20:01.06) and Diego Caldeira (15.01.97) in 5,000.

In addition, in obstacle and jump tests, Mariangelic Rojas (13.92) achieved it in 100 hurdles and Winston Vásquez (14.56) in 110 hurdles; Bárbara Gil (1:02.34) and Roineld Lara (51.99) in the 400 hurdles; and Yariana Carpio (12.90) and Leodan Torrealba (16.31) in the triple jump.

Finally, in the releases Ottainys Febres (53.25) and the junior Pan-American runner-up decathlonist Carlos Córdoba (43.97) dominated the record; Yenniver Veroes (60.61) and Wikleman Subero (56.66) succeeded in the hammer throw.

In the younger sections, Josnely Ramírez won the 80 and 150 meters with 10.01 and 18.47 respectively; Paula Pérez led in 600 with 1:38.99 while Anthony Marquina claimed first place with 1:26.05.

In other men's results, Andrés González won the 80s with 9.82 and Luis Sanchez was crowned with 18.18 in 150 meters. Javier Celis also led the under-20 album chart with 57.50.

In addition, Luis Felipe Rodríguez stood out with 49.15; and Jesús Pelufo in 100 meters (12.24).
