The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, during the broadcast of his program Con El Mazo Dando #571, assured that freedom of expression does not belong to the media, but to human beings, who can say what they want and at any time.
In this regard, Cabello explained that the media cover freedom of expression, but they do not own it; this is due to the recent comments generated on social networks following the call of the leader of the red awning to practice journalism based on ethics.
Cabello questioned the reactions of the “hill channel” and reiterated his call to practice this profession honestly, while assuring that he assumes the consequences of what he says.
“I'm not a journalist, but Diosito gave me the facility to defend myself against attacks, because the bad thing is not the launch, but the one who doesn't reply to it,” he said and reiterated that in Venezuela there is no longer a fourth power (the one exercised by the media), “they thought they had power, but that's what happened.”
“Gentlemen journalists, it's not up to me to revive the profession of journalism, because to the extent that there are more longliners every day, it's not the journalists' guild that you fall on top of it; so don't defend yourself,” he said.
