The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, ratified the nation's legitimate rights over Guiana Essequiba on Monday and rejected the Guyanese government's recent request to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to repeal the law in defense of this territory.
During the weekly red awning press conference, Cabello emphasized that “Guyana cannot meddle in Venezuela's internal affairs. Not only do we have a cartography, but we have a state called Guiana Essequiba, which is recognized, has a governor and has all the powers established in the Constitution for a governor.”
In this regard, he emphasized that if the Guyanese government wants Venezuela not to claim the rights to the territory they intend to steal from it, “that's not going to happen.”
“Today our president in charge (Delcy Rodríguez) went there (to the ICJ) to raise her voice and demand that we return to where we need to return, which is the Geneva Agreement, that there is the truth of that difference across the territory,” he said.
