The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, led the weekly press conference of the National Directorate on Monday, addressing the development of the national energy and productive sector.

“Venezuela has historically been driven by oil, it has been through serious businessmen but also pimps, as with the agricultural issue of people who call themselves that and live off what others do,” said the Secretary General during his speech.

He also highlighted the importance of adding sectors committed to the country's growth. “It's very good that there are those types of businessmen who know the subject and who want to work for this country within the framework of oil. Venezuela has almost unlimited potential in terms of energy; so far I think that what has been discovered is only a very small part of Venezuela's energy potential, and I'm talking about oil but I'm talking about other things,” he said.

He warned about those who have speculated on State resources and urged strengthening productive investment in various areas. “When the door is opened, when there are investments, the same pimps but also serious businessmen will emerge. We thank serious businessmen for participating, not only in that area but in any other area: in the area of energy, electric energy, agriculture. There are people who made money with Venezuelans' money,” he said.
