This Monday, December 9th, the sectoral vice-president for Politics, Citizen Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, highlighted the honor of commemorating 200 years of the Battle of Ayacucho, a historic event that meant another great defeat of the Spanish Empire for the liberation and independence of the Peoples.

“It's an honor for us to be here, 200 years after Ayacucho, 200 years of history, 200 years of glory. To talk about Ayacucho is to talk about (Simon) Bolívar and to talk about (Antonio José) Sucre and that extraordinary relationship that formed between them,” said Cabello during the commemorative ceremony for the Bicentennial of the Battle of Ayacucho at the National Pantheon in Caracas.

Regarding the relationship between Bolívar and Sucre, he emphasized that their relationship was consolidated “in the heat of the most heartfelt struggles for the independence of the Fatherland, in the heat of battles, in the heat of ideas, in the heat of the feelings of free peoples.”

He stressed that our heroes, with their spirit and heart, fought for freedom and did not accept being “subdued by those who considered themselves the owners of the world at that time, the Spanish empire”.
