The general secretary of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello Rondón, highlighted the importance of President Nicolás Maduro's call for the Extraordinary Plenary of the Red Awning Congress, when the country today is threatened and besieged by imperialism.

In that regard, during the installation of the extraordinary Plenary of the PSUV Congress, he recalled that the Revolution has received a large number of threats since Commander Hugo Chávez came to power.

“We have even experienced coups d'etat, attempts at invasion, assassinations, some frustrated others not, such as the assassination of Commander Hugo Chávez, directed, without a doubt, by US imperialism and executed by US imperialism,” he said.

He reaffirmed that the recent threats have undoubtedly been the toughest that Venezuela has experienced, in the attempt of imperialism to escalate into a conflict with this humble people. In addition, he pointed out everything they have accused the country to try to consolidate its escalation.

“But we have withstood that gale thanks to the greatness of our people,” he said, reaffirming Venezuela's decision to be free, as stated by the Father of the Fatherland, Simon Bolivar before the Patriotic Society on July 4, 1811.

On the other hand, he took the opportunity to thank the brothers and sisters from other countries who accompanied the day and who have been constantly in solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution in the face of imperialist aggressions.
