Documentary collections by Simón Bolívar and Francisco de Miranda transferred to the BCV to be protected after earthquakes

The Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) received the historical archives of the Liberator Simon Bolivar and the Generalissimo Francisco de Miranda, from the Liberator Forum, with the purpose of temporarily safeguarding them.

This preventive and contingency measure was executed immediately after the double earthquake of last June 24, which affected the headquarters of the Ministry of Popular Power for Culture, the General Archive of the Nation and the National Library, institutions that house the documentary memory of Venezuela, according to a press release from the BCV.

Technical inspections carried out by the competent bodies determined that the above-mentioned infrastructures and institutions suffered significant damage, putting at risk the historical heritage of Venezuelan national identity and documentary memory.

In this regard, the authorities took the priority decision to guarantee the conservation and absolute preservation of these documentary funds of inestimable patrimonial value, proceeding to their transfer to the BCV, placing them in a space that has optimal conditions and maximum security.
