In addition to showing off his offensive talent, Venezuelan Ronald Acuña Jr. , of the Atlanta Braves in the Major Leagues (MLB), shines on defense, and this Monday he was recognized with the Play of the Week, for his impressive attendance to complete a double anthology play, last Friday, July 18, in a game against the New York Yankees.

It was the start of the third inning, with an out on the scoreboard and a 3-0 lead for the Braves over the New Yorkers, when Cody Bellinger hit a deep fly to the corner of the right field, which Acuña caught without much effort and then turned around and made a perfect shot at third base with which he caught a confident Jorbit Vivas, who was trying to advance from the middle. Forerunner Nacho Álvarez Jr. completed the play.

“That was like a shot from Roberto Clemente,” Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said after the match, referring to the member of the Pittsburgh Pirates Hall of Fame, known for his incredible arm.

This is the third award of its kind won by the Venezuelan in his career, after winning it on August 19, 2019 and August 8, 2022, and he is the second Venezuelan to win it in 2025, behind Jackson Chourio, of the Milwaukee Brewers.
