Edward Ayala won the gold medal in the road race of the South American Youth Games

Venezuelan cyclist Edward Ayala was crowned in the road race of the IV South American Youth Games on the Coastal Belt 3 in Panama City.

Ayala crossed the finish line in first place with a time of 2:38:38, taking the victory in a final sprint, according to the Ministry of Sport press release.

The silver and bronze medals went to the Brazilians Pedro Dourado and Danilo Silva respectively, both with the same time trial.

Ayala highlighted the role of his teammates in winning the gold medal. “It was a team effort that we developed to be able to achieve the medal; any of the members could achieve it and I thank them for the opportunity they gave me,” said the champion.
