Political scientist Verónica Brito, in an interview on the program Café en la Mañana, broadcast by Venezolana de Televisión, explained that with the election of justices of the peace, “State institutions will no longer be burdened with judicial activity, because there are local cases that can be dealt with from the community.”

He said that differences between neighbors are referred to the court and that implies a whole administrative process “when the community can access spaces to resolve the conflict.”

“A community needs to incorporate new mechanisms of coexistence, a different pedagogy of dealing with issues and for that we need to understand our Justice System in a different way, which is why the importance of the elections of justices of the peace in the territory,” he said.

He also assured that the Organic Law of the Special Jurisdiction of Communal Peace Justice is an opportunity to take on local cases in different ways.

Brito also highlighted the importance of the participation of neighbors, which represents another milestone in the construction of Popular Power. “In the country's communities, there is a model of interaction such as the Community Councils and the Community Circuit,” he added.

He indicated that it is intended to project from abroad that Venezuelans do not have the capacity to solve problems, so reliability must be given to the community that has come in the exercise of solving cases such as services in coordination with the institutions of the Venezuelan State.
