The Parliamentary Committee on Territorial Sovereignty of the National Assembly presented this Monday the final report of its work report corresponding to the legislative period 2021-2024, in which it highlights that this administration summarizes a history of the sovereign homeland, from which 160,000 square kilometers were taken, when I was very young.
This was summarized by the president of the instance, deputy Hermann Escarrà (PSUV/Aragua), who added that during this period, more than 100 meetings were held through an exercise of respect and dignity; they had the best body of advisors, who demonstrated knowledge to ensure that the hard and dramatic history of dispossession is not repeated.
He explained that the commission, first of all, carried out the descriptive amendment of the territory; thereby ensuring its sovereignty to create the state of Guiana Essequiba; and it consulted the people on the importance of shaping this new state, with its due constitutional status and its elements of geopolitical order.
Deputy Williams Fariñas (PSUV/Nueva Esparta) indicated that they pulled the thorn out of the heart of Bolivar's homeland. “This territory, which went unrecognized for more than 100 years, is now the state of Guiana Essequiba through the consultative referendum of December 3, 2023,” he added.
He stressed that the principles of the Geneva Agreement are maintained, as an instrument of the controversy; the defense of the Atlantic Platform, the fight with the transnational company ExxonMobile, and they are unaware of any decision that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) may have regarding the Essequibo.
At the close of the meeting, the 15 volumes of the Special Commission's 2021-2024 Management Report and Account were recorded; and the National Pipeline Institute (INC) awarded the Order of Merit, in its First Class, to Deputy Hermann Escarrà and Brigadier General (GB) Pompeyo Torrealba.
In addition, the advisory body was recognized with the delivery of certificates, for their contributions during the administration of the legislative body, which enhance the commitment to the defense of the Guayana Esequiba state and its resources.
