The MEP for France, Sandro Gozi, warned that if billionaire Elon Musk does not comply with European standards on digital services, “the Commission of the European Union (EU) will ask continental operators to block” the social network.
Speaking to the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, Gozi also commented that in the most extreme case, the Commission “will force them to completely dismantle the platform in the territory”.
Gozi was elected MEP by France, by Emmanuel Macron's party and is a member of the Liberal presidency of Renew.
The social network X is under the scrutiny of EU authorities, a body that issued a preliminary statement in July stating that it is investigating whether Musk's company violates the Digital Services Act (DSA), which seeks to regulate the operation of digital platforms in the European market.
