The executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez,
pointed out that the Retailers Sector represents 4.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)
in Venezuela, which generates more than 640,000 jobs.
During his participation in the first edition
of the World Retailers Congress 2025, he asserted that this is a sector that has
been consolidating and in continuous growth.
Rodríguez emphasized the importance of the growth of the commercial sector industry in Venezuela, “now we don't depend only on imported products”, but it is growing and producing.
“The policies implemented by President
Nicolás Maduro aim to recover all the installed capacity of the Venezuelan industry and that this sector will also have a boost in
manufacturing and in connection with the commercial sector,” he said.
He stressed that, thanks to its own efforts, the Venezuelan
economy registered growth of 9.3% in the first quarter
of this year.
On the other hand, he pointed out that between the United States
and China there is a tariff war that has an impact on the
international economy, on the energy market, on the
international supply chain, on productive sectors and undoubtedly on the Venezuelan economy in
terms of the fall in oil prices.
“In recent months, the drop in oil prices
has been 24.4%, which is why President Nicolás Maduro called for
diversifying the Venezuelan economy and we are in a frank process of
recovery,” he added.
He recalled that Venezuela warned him that it would not be
the only one affected by economic war. “In the month of April, a tariff
war was declared on the entire planet, without distinction of any kind, aligned countries or countries not
aligned with the interests of the United States were impacted,” he said.
