The president in charge of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, said that “there is a lack of justice for victims and that is why not only the Amnesty Law has been activated, but also the Coexistence Program, which is incorporated into the justice processes where we are dealing with all cases.”
He pointed out that “this went too far” when referring to hatred and the manifestations of violence caused by confrontations and political positions and in that sense he commented “let's ask Venezuela if that's what we want for the country.”
Rodríguez took the opportunity to thank the families of the victims and the deputy Jorge Arreza “all the work of these few days, the detachment of the victims (...) detachment, because forgiveness is detachment from oneself, from private and personal pain”.
The president in charge stated that “the commitment to non-repetition is not a matter of a law, the commitment that this will not be repeated is a human, personal condition (...) The amnesty laws of Commander Chávez, of President Nicolás Maduro, of forgiveness, always sought healing, spiritual healing, human healing, a human being cannot be overcome by hate, it is not life.”
He added that “human beings must also find forgiveness and are found in many ways, sometimes we think that it is justice. I say this from a personal point of view, justice will never return our loved ones, but yes, without a doubt, it must be said (...)”.
