Amidst applause, prayers and an atmosphere of deep devotion, the Archdiocese of Caracas formally kicked off Holy Week with the traditional Blessing of the Palm Trees in the vicinity of Plaza Bolívar.

From the early hours of the morning, hundreds of faithful gathered outside the Cathedral of Caracas to commemorate the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. The central event began with the blessing of the palms, a symbol that recalls the people's joy and recognition of the “Messiah”.

After the initial rite, the parishioners advanced in a solemn procession that went through part of the square to finally enter the temple, marking the beginning of the journey towards the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ.

The Holy Mass this Palm Sunday was presided over by the Archbishop of Caracas, Monsignor Raúl Biord, who was accompanied at the altar by Fr. Juan Carlos Silva, pastor of the Cathedral and Deacon Germán Machado.

During the liturgy, the meaning of Palm Sunday was highlighted as a time of reflection and spiritual renewal for all Venezuelans.

The massive attendance of Caracas families reaffirms the roots of these religious traditions that mark the most important liturgical calendar in Christianity.

Let us remember that Palm Sunday is not just a tradition of applause, it is the beginning of our dedication and accompaniment to Jesus in his paschal mystery.
