Farmers in the country elected spokespersons for their councils

This Saturday in the city of Araure, Portuguese state, the spokespersons of peasant councils were elected as part of the national day of popular organization. The process made it possible to strengthen the participation of rural communities in decision-making, reaffirming the role of councils as a key body for productive and territorial planning.
Elda Villegas, peasant spokeswoman, explained that the members of three commissions were elected: production, economy and territorial defense. “These are three extremely important commissions that the president of the country, Nicolás Maduro, calls us to form in order to strengthen the peasant organization so that we are much more established.”
He added that “we producers ourselves can work in our territory and make progress in each sector, which is why it is important to organize our voices”.
In Zulia, peasant youth participated in the day of the election of the spokespersons of the peasant councils, consolidating the role of the youth sector in agricultural development throughout Venezuela. Yoveris Briñez, one of the participants, described the event as “historic and important”.
In Guárico, meanwhile, more than 50,000 peasants actively participated in the day of electing the spokesperson for the entity's peasant councils, thus strengthening popular organization in the territory. The producers agreed that this is a day of high social impact.
the Cristóbal Rojas municipality, Miranda state, Mayor Yuhismar Hernández, specified that the town she heads has a large number of producers throughout the territory. For this reason, he thanked the Bolivarian Government for its support in organizing the producers and the spokespersons of each peasant council.
