The platform of the “Chuchú” Gruber gymnasium in Ciudad Bolívar vibrated with the elegance and forcefulness of the highest level fencing in the Elite Championship held last weekend in Guyanese lands.

The main protagonist of the day was the Olympian Francisco Limardo, who used his experience and his location to become champion in the individual event.

Olympic experience

On an impeccable route to gold, Limardo beat Samuel Aguilera de Miranda in the final match.

The list of honor was completed by the capital's Manuel Maita de Sucre and Juan Ferreira, who shared the third rung of the podium.

In the women's category, the Guárico delegation celebrated at the top thanks to the performance of Lizze Asis, who beat Eliana Lugo (Caracas) in a fight that kept the tension up to the last touch.

Local women María Gabriela Martínez and Betyumil Posada also took the podium to give Bolívar two valuable bronze medals in a highly competitive category.

Pure speed

In the women's sabre, Andrea Moros from Caracas set her pace to win the gold medal in a decisive round against Ivana Hatem from Carabobo. The bronze went to Ariana Prieto and Yesimar Aponte.

For his part, the men's sabre crowned Marcel Medina de Lara, who demonstrated his superiority to beat Daniel Chirinos in the final. Third place was shared by the capital's Kevin Jiménez and Alan Chacón.

In the women's foil, Natalia Machado (Carabobo), exhibited total dominance of the platform after defeating the capital Karla Caraballo and hanging the gold metal. Aixmar Briceño and Angie Castro took the podium with bronze.

In the male branch of this weapon, Snayker Antonielli became established after a strategic duel against Carlos Ladera from Caracas.

The bronzes of the sport went to Carlos Quintero de Mérida and Antonio Leal de Lara, thus closing a historic edition for national fencing on Bolivarian soil.
