Japan's field hospital, located in the state of La Guaira, has provided comprehensive medical care to more than 1,600 patients to date. The center offers pediatric consultations, trauma treatment and X-ray services.

In this regard, the director of the hospital, Naoki Yokobayashi, stressed that the contingent is made up of a medical team of doctors, nurses and technical staff. It is also supported by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and members of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Yokobayashi recalled that in 2011 Japan suffered a major earthquake, when the Venezuelan people and their authorities offered economic aid, in addition to camps, drinking water and non-perishable food.

“This time we want to come to Venezuela to give our support to Venezuelans,” said the director of the field hospital in Japan after the earthquake of last June 24.
