The People's Power Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, rejected the threat posed by the commander of the U.S. Southern Command, General Laura Richardson, during a visit to Chile where he participated in a supposed “regional conference on security.”
During his stay in Chile, Richardson once again attacked the legitimate government of the president, Nicolás Maduro, stating that the country allegedly “undermines the democratic will of the Venezuelan people.”
In this regard, the Venezuelan foreign minister responded to the infamous stories through the Telegram platform that “the head of the Southern Command chose to go to Chile, where her predecessors met with Pinochet to direct the Condor Plan, which murdered thousands of Latin Americans, to talk about democracy.”
Gil stressed that in Venezuela “fascism and the heirs of Latin American dictatorships are being combated, who today dream of reversing the revolutionary processes in our region.”
He also described as “ridiculous threats” those made by Laura Richardson and that these do not serve to motivate the small violent and terrorist groups that failed again in Venezuela.
