The Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Yván Gil, highlighted this Tuesday the
need to re-found the United Nations (UN) in the face of the
emergence of a new world that must leave behind colonial and imperialist thinking.
During an interview with La Iguana, the diplomat pointed out
that there must be an international system that regulates nations, defends
principles and prevents genocide.” He stated that “the United Nations is not
fulfilling its mandate” and some “powerful States” are putting pressure on this
international body.
He described the position of some diplomats in the service of Washington as shameful and stressed that Venezuela will continue
to “work to
have a good relationship with the vast majority of countries in the world.”
Faced with interfering actions in Venezuela
's internal affairs, Foreign Minister Gil indicated that “ideology is one thing, politics
is another thing and diplomacy another.” In this regard, he criticized that “any
opinion about our internal affairs is an opinion that borders on interference”.
