Foreign Minister Yván Gil: “Venezuela is part of the BRICS, we could say so”

The Venezuelan Foreign Minister stressed that only formalization is needed for the country's official inclusion in the group

The Minister of People's Power for Foreign Affairs, Yván Gil, highlighted this Tuesday that Venezuela is a de facto member of the BRICS Group and is already actively participating in all the meetings of the economic block.

During an interview, the Venezuelan Foreign Minister stressed that only formalization is needed for the country's official inclusion in the group. “Venezuela is part of the BRICS, we could say so. They are in the process of expanding,” he said.

He indicated that there will be a meeting of foreign ministers in September in New York, where the mechanisms for integration will be defined, highlighting the support that Venezuela receives from the member countries of the BRICS .

“We have important support for Venezuela to work. In fact, we are already working, our ministers are attending BRICS meetings , we participate in commissions, in the exchange of information, in summits and meetings of foreign ministers,” he said.
