FUNVISIS reports an earthquake of 4.2 in areas of Caracas, Miranda and the east of the country

This Sunday, May 19, the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) reported an earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale, which shook the eastern coast of Venezuela.

This seismic movement occurred at 2:31 p.m., with an epicenter located 37 kilometers southwest of La Tortuga Island at 10.71° latitude and -65.59°, and the telluric vibration had a depth of 7.8 kilometers.

In a telephone contact with Venezolana de Televisión, the Deputy Minister of Risk Management and Protection, M/G Carlos Pérez Am, reported that the earthquake affected areas such as the Cordillera de la Costa, Sucre, Miranda, Monagas, part of the Capital District and Nueva Esparta.

He specified that so far no human or structural damage has been reported. At the same time, he added that they receive instructions from the Ministry of People's Power for Internal Relations, Justice and Peace to monitor any possible new response.
