FUNVISIS reports earthquake in Portuguese

The Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (FUNVISIS) reported a 4.5 Mw magnitude seismic event, located 15 kilometers southeast of Biscucuy, Portuguese state, this Wednesday, June 17 at 21:23:30.2 local time (HL).

In a press release, the agency indicated that after this event, other smaller events were recorded in the area, some of which have been felt by the population.

The events that occurred in the last few hours, in the adjacent areas, are presented as a sequence of seismic activity, concentrated between the fault systems of the southern foothills of the Andes, the Boconó fault system and the Burbusay system, evidence of the activity of these fault systems, FUNVISIS explained.

So far, a total of 25 events have been recorded, with quantities ranging from 1.9 to 4.5 Mw.
