Next Sunday, December 8, the National Art Gallery (GAN) will open its doors starting at 11:00am for the exhibition Orinoco, Cubagua, Ayacucho 1824-2024, Crossroads and Our American Metaphors by the photographer Rodrigo Benavides from Caracas, who won the National Photography Award of Venezuela 2020.
The exhibition organized by the National Museums Foundation and the GAN consists mainly of analog photographic films in black and white, and in color; it also includes digital images.
The display highlights the very important system for calibrating contrast and tones, for the subsequent scanning of the images originally obtained on film, and thus keeping the photographs at high resolution.
The exhibition culminates with a photograph of great proportions that places spectators in La Pampa de la Quinua, Peru, a location in the Andes Mountains and the scene of the Battle of Ayacucho, led by El Libertador Simón Bolívar, and from which this vision emerges from which he built his most recent exhibition of documentary or non-intervened photographs.
Through this artistic exhibition, the Venezuelan photographer offers a visual repertoire of key places for the emancipation of the Spanish yoke in America.
