The government of Ecuador announced that starting the night of Wednesday, September 18, electricity service will be suspended for eight hours due to alleged “preventive maintenance” in the power transmission system.
“Electricity service will be suspended nationwide” from 10:00 at night on Wednesday to 06:00 in the morning of Thursday, September 19, said President Daniel Noboa.
The work will be carried out at the four substations of the national transmission system in the provinces of Morona, Santiago, Santa Elena, Guayas and Azuay.
According to the press, Ecuador has been experiencing problems in the supply of electricity service; one of the causes is the drought in April, when the cuts lasted for up to 13 consecutive hours.
