Government of Mexico establishes Interdisciplinary Group for the Environmental Protection of the Gulf of Mexico

The president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced the creation of a high-level interdisciplinary group responsible for carrying out an exhaustive and technical assessment of the current environmental situation in the Gulf of Mexico.

During her speech, the state president stressed that the main objective of this team of experts is to obtain an accurate and evidence-based diagnosis of the state of the region.

This effort seeks to identify the vulnerabilities of the marine ecosystem and ensure that public policies align with the environmental reality of the area.

“We have formed this interdisciplinary group to evaluate the real situation in the Gulf of Mexico, ensuring that every decision taken for the protection of our natural resources is supported by science and technology,” said the president.

In this regard, he highlighted the inter-institutional effort that reaffirms the commitment of the current administration to sustainability and transparency in the management of the country's natural resources, prioritizing the health of the Mexican seas for future generations.
