The governor of the state of Monagas, Ernesto Luna, stressed that the National Popular Consultation is gaining a lot of strength because they are the product of debate and planning.
After exercising her right to vote, Luna described the elections on July 27 as an unprecedented process, because not only are mayors and councilors elected, but the first popular youth consultation is taking place.
In that sense, Luna said that it is a great demonstration of the democratic power that exists in Venezuela. “In no country in Latin America or in the world do you see this type of election where youth are the protagonists,” he said.
He also stated that the participation has been extraordinary. “We are very pleased to see many young people participating in this consultation and of course giving their opinions with great joy and enthusiasm,” he said.
The governor called on Venezuelans who have not yet exercised their right to vote to leave and participate, “there is still time.”
