The governor of the state of Mérida, Arnaldo Sánchez, assured that the elimination of sanctions and blockades would accelerate the progress achieved in domestic production.

“Imagine without sanctions everything we could achieve. If we hadn't had this blockade, today we would be much further along,” he said.

The governor highlighted the efforts of Merida's producers, whom he defined as men and women committed to their people.

He explained that, despite the difficulties, traditional engineering methods were applied to ensure the harvest and guarantee supply throughout the country.

“The potatoes that are eaten in Aruba and Curaçao are those that are produced here in the paramo. These producers not only guarantee food, they also demonstrate their love for Mérida,” he said.

Sánchez recalled that last year 96 damages were registered on different roads in the state, and that thanks to the support of the National Executive, a comprehensive plan has been implemented to restore mobility and guarantee the exit of agricultural sectors. “Together, it has been possible to establish the entire complete plan to recover each of the affected roads,” he said.

The regional president reiterated that Mérida is a land of peace and that it will be kept in peace thanks to the joint work between communities, producers and institutions. “Once again I want to thank them and reaffirm that we will continue to work together,” he concluded.
