The extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassador of Grenada and National Coordinator of Grenada to the ALBA-TCP, Hassan Hadeed, questioned the application of global norms without equity.

During the XXIV Meeting of the Political Council of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Peoples' Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), he noted that “we have serious doubts about the fairness of the application of international law.” He also said that there must be a set of rules for all countries, not “one for the rich and others for the poor, on the contrary, there should be only one rule”.

Hadeed noted that from Grenada's perspective, small countries are not achieving their full potential for development, peace and security due to the actions of others; “it's no secret that we smaller nations have had to face and endure the profound impact of conflicts, climate change, a volatile and unstable economy, pandemics and persistent challenges.”

With regard to the world scene, he strongly condemned the loss of human lives “including the more than 15,000 children in Gaza since October 7 and the 569 people who have been killed in Lebanon on September 23 and 24, including innocent women and children, while calling on nations dedicated to prolonging wars to rethink their actions not only in national interests but in international interest.

Finally, referring to the Venezuelan nation, he said that “the citizens of Venezuela have the inherent right to choose their government democratically.” He also thanked the solidarity always shown with Grenada, “they have demonstrated by example what it means to support a member of the family in times of need when the whimsical finger of fate seems to conspire with nature”.
