The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) must be alert to the actions of the Southern Command, “they are trying to set up military bases in our Guiana Essequiba.”

In that scenario, he highlighted: “Alert that there is the Southern Command provoking our region and here is Venezuela ready, ready and well planted to defend its historical rights. To the best of our knowledge, few words.”

“Who is the provocateur? Who is the rapist? Who is the surrendering who is drawn to the militaristic interests of the North American empire? Let everyone draw their own conclusions,” he stressed in his program “Con Maduro Live de Repente”.

He asserted that in Venezuela “our Bolivarian National Armed Force (FANB) rules militarily (...) and in Guyana it rules military-police I have to say that unfortunately the Southern Command has the command, the order and as you know it is the enemy of peace in Latin America and the Caribbean.”

In that regard, he said that “I tell the CARICOM ministers, pending with the former Cooperative Republic of Guyana, I believe that their history of the Cooperative Republic betrayed it, now it will be the colony of EXXON MOBIL and it acts as a colony.”

The head of state stated that in Guyana, politically and economically, EXXON MOBIL rules, “nothing moves in Guyana but has the command of EXXON MOBIL”.

“It is truly very shameful for the dignity of the peoples of the Caribbean,” he emphasized.

He stressed that the Guyanese authorities have been meeting with the Southern Command, “they believe they can frighten Venezuela.”
