The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela,
Nicolás Maduro, celebrated this Friday the rescue of the 252
Venezuelan migrants who were kidnapped at the Center for Confinement of
Terrorism (CECOT), in El Salvador, after intense negotiations with the
governments of the United States (USA) and the Central American country.
“They are already flying to Caracas, and in the next few minutes they are going to
land at Simon Bolivar Airport in Maiquetía. That's how I committed myself
to family members,” said the Head of State during his participation in the Peasant Congress.
He recalled that the 252 Venezuelans “did not commit any crime
in El Salvador, they were kidnapped in the United States, they were disappeared.
They had no right to defense, they didn't have a judge in El
Salvador, they didn't have the right to access their lawyers, they didn't have the right to
due process. Under no circumstances were they kidnapped and I pledged to
their families and to all of Venezuela that I was going to rescue them safe and sound and
they are traveling to our beautiful homeland. Free, healthy, safe!” , he said.
“We have achieved a new miracle with the favor of God and his
blessings, always God ahead of us. With the unity and mobilization of the people
of Venezuela, with faith in justice, we have rescued these 252 Venezuelans from the
concentration and torture camps of Nayib Bukele in El Salvador,” added the Dignitary.
He revealed that the first testimonies of these migrants
highlight that “they were savagely tortured in these concentration camps.
We bring in one of them who lost a kidney as a result of the beatings they beat him.
Many of them were tortured on several occasions, they were
mistreated, put and served them food whenever they wanted, made them
go hungry for days on end and put rotten food in them,” he lamented.
In this regard, he pointed out that when he arrived in Venezuela, “a special
team of doctors from the neighborhood is waiting for them to treat them and
do their full medical checkup.”
