The head of state, Nicolás Maduro, commemorated La Guaira Day through his account on the social network X.
“In homage to the heroism of José María España, we proudly celebrate La Guaira Day, a land that dazzles with its history, the joy of its people and the charm of the sea, a state that wakes up more beautiful with every dawn, thanks to the will and optimism of a people that never give up,” he wrote.
On February 28, 2019, under the governance of Jorge Luis García Carneiro, this day was declared La Guaira day, with the intention of promoting the recognition of José María España, as the entity's true hero.
