President Nicolás Maduro Moros assured that 84% of Venezuelans can access their right to free education, unlike the Fourth Republic when this percentage reached only 40%.

“When Commander Chávez arrived, public education was 40% and 60% was private. That 40% for one to be able to register a boy had to “pay a toll” (...) A lot of people didn't have and couldn't register their boy,” she said.

In this regard, he specified that currently public education in Venezuela is represented by 84% of educational institutions and the rest (16%) private”, while adding that approximately half of that 16% is subsidized.

He stressed that public and private education can coexist, “but that the majority of the youth of boys, girls and the people can exercise their constitutional and free right.”

He also indicated that education in the Bolivarian Revolution is public, free, of quality, humanistic, ethical, scientific and technological, “so that the great generation surpasses all the generations that have been behind.”
