Heavy rains cause a river dam to break in northern China

No casualties were reported and more than 600 people are working to rehabilitate the dam

Local authorities in China reported that in the autonomous Inner Mongolia, in the north of the Asian country, a dam was damaged due to heavy rains.


In this regard, they specified that due to the rainfall, more than 820 inhabitants of the area were evacuated.

The rupture, more than 10 meters wide, occurred in the Laoha River embankment, in the town of Taipingdi in the city of Chifeng, and affected some 467 hectares of farmland, according to a Xinhua press release.


No casualties were reported and more than 600 people are working to rehabilitate the dam.
