Honduras: President Castro denounced that a coup d'etat is under way to destroy her government

Last Tuesday, the president of Honduras, Xiomara Castro, confirmed that the new coup attempt jeopardizes the peace and internal security of the Republic.

Telesur explained, on its website, that Castro said that this violent action is due to his administration's fight against drug trafficking.

“The plan to destroy my socialist and democratic government is under way,” he said and specified that “the dark forces of 2009 with the national and international media are reorganizing” to organize the coup.

“The plan for solving the crime and execution demonstrates our political commitment to extradition, but I will not allow the current treaty with the United States to selectively exploit the existing treaty with the United States to dismantle the armed forces, overthrow my Government and destroy the elections (scheduled for 2025),” he stressed.
