This Thursday, the Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Human Rights Watch (HRW) declared that the Donald Trump administration, in the United States (USA), “cannot summarily execute people accused of drug trafficking.”
HRW, which is not exactly an ally of the Bolivarian Government, reported that the bombings carried out by the United States against two vessels, supposedly used by drug traffickers in Venezuelan waters, amount to extrajudicial executions and warned that attempts by the White House to expand its authority in this type of operation could lead to new violations of human rights.
“U.S. officials cannot summarily execute people they accuse of drug trafficking,” said Sarah Yager, the director of HRW in Washington, as quoted by Europa Press.
He also added that “the problem of narcotics entering the United States is not an armed conflict and U.S. officials cannot circumvent their human rights obligations by pretending otherwise.”
The Trump administration, on September 2, reported that it ordered a bombardment in international waters against a small vessel, which without any evidence assures that it came from Venezuela, a fact that allegedly ended with the murder of 11 people.
