Indonesian authorities warn of possible tsunami

Indonesian seismology authorities announced the possibility of a tsunami following a magnitude 7.4 earthquake off the coast of that country.

The Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported that the epicenter of the earthquake was located 163 km east of the city of Manado (North Sulawesi province), where 451,000 people live. The hypocenter was located at a depth of 35 km. Meanwhile, the United States Geological Survey estimated the magnitude of the earthquake at 7.8, while Indonesian seismologists estimated it at 7.6.

The National Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a tsunami warning. So far, no information has been received about victims or damage, according to the international press.
