INEA completed structural repair of Conferry's Virgen del Valle II ferry

The National Institute of Aquatic Spaces (INEA) completed structural repair work on the starboard side of the Conferry ship Virgen del Valle II, carried out on the docks of the Port of Guanta in Anzoátegui and Punta de Piedras in Nueva Esparta.
The restoration work included the hull and the load capacity of the plates, longitudinal reinforcements, cutting T-type beams, template structures, assembly and welding of structural elements and plate sections, as well as an epoxy painting scheme.
In addition, the removal and installation of 4.2 linear meters of palmejar (plank that goes inside, from bow to stern of the boat, parallel and superimposed on the keel, indented and nailed to the varengas, to link the buckets together) and the partial repair of the mechanism of a watertight gate, INEA press reports.
In addition, visual inspection and non-destructive tests were carried out to verify the quality of the works that are relevant to optimizing the operation and safety of the vessel.
