In the context of School Patrol Day, authorities from the National Institute of Land Transportation (INTT) took the oath of office of 60 patrolmen and patrol cars of the Mariano Picón Salas National Educational Unit, located in Petare parish, Sucre municipality, Miranda state.

During the ceremony, 10 mini patrol cars and 50 boys and girls who will make up the school patrol of the educational institution were sworn in. It is important to mention that the main objective of this activity was to sow road awareness in the homeland's hotbeds through an educational program that consolidates road education and reinforces the values of companionship, union, respect, solidarity, coexistence and responsibility.

In his speech, the president of the INTT, Dr. Luis Granko, pointed out that this activity promotes education and responsibility not only in children but also in the parents and representatives who are part of the process. In turn, he urged to continue with this legacy of patrolmen.

“Recreating school patrols in schools is something that fills even the representatives themselves with satisfaction, because school patrols are nothing more for schools. Let the children teach the representatives, because it is creating the awareness of the representative himself, not the child, of the scratches, the traffic signs, wearing the helmet, using the belt, all that. I am happy with this type of act,” he said.

As part of the activity, the INTT demarcated the surroundings of the campus to improve road conditions and reinforce the work that these patrol cars will do to ensure mobility in the institution and promote values with the student community in the context of the National Plan “Respect the lines, don't scratch yourself”. The project included the demarcation of pedestrian crossings, school areas, continuous and discontinuous lines, speed bumps and legends.

In this regard, Granko indicated that, “today, May 21, we finished the first phase. There are 1,244 schools for which the plan was made. The moment was seized and almost 50 boys and girls from the School Patrol of the Mariano Picón Salas National Educational Unit were sworn in.”

Finally, the President of the INTT said that the institution welcomes the second phase. “With more awareness, more road safety education and more school patrols to preserve the life, safety and peace of mind of our students, representatives and our people.”
