The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran issued a statement this Sunday to condemn the Israeli attack on Yemen that assassinated Houthi Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb Naser al-Rahwi and several of his ministers.

“The Zionist regime's atrocious attack on infrastructure and residential areas in Yemen and the murder of senior officials and innocent citizens constitute a clear war crime and crime against humanity,” Iran said in the document, Fuser News reports.

Iran described the aggression as a war crime and urged the Security Council of the United Nations (UN) and Islamic countries for an immediate response that would hold Israeli leaders responsible for the “expansion of organized terrorism”.

At the same time, the Persian country warned that Tel Aviv's aggressive policy threatens international peace and security.

The Houthis, members of the Axis of Resistance together with Hamas, Hezbollah and Iraqi militias, are carrying out attacks against Israel in solidarity with Palestine. In retaliation, Israeli aircraft bomb targets in Sana'a and other regions of Yemen, extending the conflict beyond Gaza.
