The Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran approved a bill to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as reported by Press TV, quoted by Venezolana de Televisión.
Alireza Salimí, member of the presidency of the Iranian Parliament, stated that the decision will be referred to the Supreme National Security Council for approval.
He also stressed that IAEA inspectors would be banned from entering the country and that there would be sanctions for those who let them enter. “The International Atomic Energy Agency did not even formally condemn the attack on Iranian nuclear facilities, so it has lost its international credibility,” said Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, president of the Parliament.
He added that the country intends to work on nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, despite threats. “Iran will be more ready and prepared than ever, our hand is on the trigger and we will respond with overwhelming force to any aggression,” he said.
The spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, accused the organization of betraying its principles. “You betrayed the non-proliferation regime, you made the IAEA a partner in this unjust war of aggression,” he said.
Iran has filed a formal lawsuit with the United Nations against the director of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi, for “complicity” in Israeli aggression, due to his focus on Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.
The Islamic Republic denounces that the IAEA and its director are complicit in the Israeli war against the country by issuing an unfounded report on the Iranian nuclear program, which was used to launch this aggression.
