The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations (UN), Amir Said Iravani, urged the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, and the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to condemn the terrorist crime perpetrated on Saturday in the city of Zahedan, located in the southeast of the country.
In the terrorist act, at least six people lost their lives, including a woman and a one-year-old child, and 23 others were injured, when several armed assailants attacked the provincial court of Sistan and Baluchistan, in Zahedan, early Saturday morning. The attackers opened fire inside the building, Hispantv said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly urges the UNSC and the Secretary General of the United Nations to condemn this terrorist crime in the strongest possible terms and to take a firm and principled stance against all forms and manifestations of terrorism, regardless of the identity, motivations or affiliations of the perpetrators,” said Iravani.
The Iranian representative at the UN called Saturday's attack in Zahedan the “deadliest” terrorist act perpetrated by the Yeish al-Adl group since October 2024.
