Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei visited the mausoleum of the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, located in the south of the capital, Tehran, to pay homage to him, 10 days after the 47th anniversary of the historic victory of the Islamic Revolution.
Ayatollah Khamenei recited a prayer and performed prayers in the mausoleum, asking for the spiritual elevation of the soul of Imam Khomeini and the martyrs of the Islamic Revolution, HispanTV reported.
Upon his return, he was greeted by a large crowd waiting for him at Mehrabad Airport. Upon arrival, the first leader of the Islamic Republic announced the illegality of the Pahlavi monarchy and called on the Army to preserve the Revolution.
February 11 marks the 47th anniversary of the end of the Mohamadreza Pahlavi regime, ending 2,500 years of the monarchy, to establish, months later, a Republic based on the commandments of Islam.
Starting February 1, the Iranian people celebrate the 'Decade of Dawn', which covers the ten-day period from the return of Imam Khomeini to Tehran until the triumph of the Islamic Revolution.
