The sectoral vice-president of Politics, Public Security and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón, strongly rejected the statements of the mayor of Panama, Mayer Mizrachi, regarding humanitarian aid destined for Venezuela after the earthquakes of last June 24.

“We reject the vulgar, miserable statements of the mayor of Panama who put a GPS on humanitarian aid, which is miserable, to check where it is. Well, every thief dreams that they are stealing it,” he said from the spaces of the Simon Bolivar University (USB) in La Guaira.

He specified that the Panamanian mayor has a long file in which it is emphasized that “he was imprisoned for embezzlement and was also reported for fraud, that mayor of Panama, so he believes that we are going to steal the help that is from the people. For God's sake! How miserable,” he said.

“This miserable plot of this mayor of Panama has become very clear. Let them check the world over who that person is. He was detained in Colombia for six months, right? He spent six months in Colombia for fraud. The people of Panama City elected him mayor and that's one thing for them to be interns, but those are the ones who believe they have the moral authority to come and speak ill of the people of Venezuela,” he criticized.

In this regard, Cabello questioned whether a system has been set up to monitor supplies sent to Venezuela and argued that international aid is being distributed to care for affected families.

In addition, he reaffirmed that behind these campaigns against the country are the haters of Venezuela, “who do not respect human pain, all they are looking for is political gain.”

He clarified that “in the midst of disaster there is no room for political gain, there is room for solidarity, for love, for companionship, for fraternal embrace, for between helping us and not continuing to attack our country.”

For this reason, he called for a stop to media campaigns against the country. “No, okay, enough of the aggression. It is the only country in the world that, in the midst of a disaster, has a media war worse or of greater proportions than nature's own attack against Venezuela,” he said, specifying that every day the country faces campaigns of intrigue, fake news and lies to demoralize Venezuelans.

He also criticized that those who promote these campaigns have not been able to set foot in the country to help. They don't know how many people have been affected, how many dead have been found, how many people were rescued alive thanks to the extraordinary work of the people, with the national government and the international aid that came in time to do so. The real international aid, the rescuers, those who went underground, who didn't put GPS on any package of wet towels. It's very miserable, in truth, to do that, to be vicious against a people, as some political figures do,” he denounced.
