The president of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, will visit Iraq and will become the first nation to make an official stop after taking office, according to information reported by Al Mayadeen.

The media revealed, according to its sources, that the agenda will be produced in response to the invitation of its Iraqi counterpart, Abdul Latif Rashid.

He also stressed that Pezeshkian's visit to Iraq will take place before his visit to the United Nations headquarters in New York, within the framework of a session of the Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

Since the 90s, the relationship between the two nations has changed significantly and in March 2008, then President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was the first Iranian president to visit Iraq since the 1979 Islamic revolution.
