Since last October 7, when the aggression of the Zionist regime of Israel against the Gaza Strip escalated, more than 390 schools, universities and educational institutions have been destroyed by the occupying forces in the Palestinian enclave.

In a statement, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) said that educational centers “have been destroyed in a hundred days, the most recent of which was the bombing of Al-Isra University and the new bombing of the Islamic University”, acts that they described as “war crimes and criminal conduct aimed at destroying all components of human life”.

Hamas highlighted that Tel Aviv aims at the education system in order to destroy or damage the national value and identity of Palestinians, while the Gaza Ministry of Education reports that a total of 4,368 students have been killed by Israeli attacks and around 8,000 have been injured since last October.

The Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), Edward Chaiban, described Gaza this week as “the most dangerous place in the world to be a child. We have said that this is a war against children.”

The agency highlighted that of the nearly 25,000 people who have died in Gaza since October, 70 percent were women and minors. “The killing of children must stop immediately,” Chaiban said.
