Israeli drone kills journalist Amal Khalil in southern Lebanon

Last Wednesday, Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil was killed in Al-Tiri after an attack carried out by an Israeli drone. The event has been reported as a premeditated crime, since local authorities had previously reported on the presence of the press in the area.

The attack occurred in two stages: first, a drone hit the vehicle that was escorting the journalists. While they were seeking refuge in a nearby house, the drone again attacked the car directly and, later, the house where they were trying to take shelter.

Following the bombing, Israeli forces initially prevented Red Cross ambulances and relief teams from passing through. This obstruction deliberately delayed urgent medical care for the victims, aggravating the consequences of the attack on the spot.

This murder adds to the list of journalists who were victims of attacks in the region, generating strong international condemnation. An independent investigation is required to prevent this crime against press freedom and the right to information from going unpunished.
