Researchers from the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC) have advanced in the study and optimization of semiconductor materials known as perovskites, by incorporating cerium to enhance their optical and magnetic properties.
This scientific work, which used the Electronic Paramagnetic Resonance technique, opened the door to the development of high-tech electronic devices, advanced sensors, spintronics and supercapacitors with large energy storage capacity.
The research, led by Dr. Pedro Silva and developed in cooperation with the Federal University of Pelotas in Brazil, was presented with great acceptance at the International Raremet Congress 2026, held in Moscow.
The Minister of Popular Power for Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez, highlighted the impact of this work: “Venezuela demonstrates its capacity to generate excellent scientific knowledge and contribute to global technological development.”
